Who is the Trekking Adventuress?
Hey, my name is Melodie Soemann
I grew up in a small, two street light, town in New York. Ever since I was a baby my family’s been going on annual summer camping trips. These were week long adventures in the Adirondack Mountains, where I fell in love with camping and the outdoors. Being able to escape from the rat race, pressures of society, and being able to sit back and unplug always gives me the happiest feeling.
Looking back, most of my favorite memories are spending time with friends and family in the outdoors. Some of the best conversations I’ve had were around a campfire or hanging out playing card games in a tent. I think you’re able to learn so much more about each other than you would just watching a movie. Even if you’re not willing to admit it there’s always that thought in the back of your mind, what would you really do if a bear walked through your campsite? Whether it be convincing my friends we were safe from any wild animals or laughing so hard you start crying, there’s nothing that can top a good camping trip.
Here are the goals of my blog…
Share my outdoor experiences:
I love teaching people about the outdoors, especially city people or first timers. Any of my free time at college was spent on random walks through the woods on campus. If any of my college friends are reading this, I’m sure they would wholeheartedly agree that those are some unforgettable memories! Even if at the time you hated me for convincing city people to go into the “forest.”
You can have fun in your own backyard:
Although I haven’t traveled very far away from my home state, the adventurous part of me keeps me exploring the things around me. There are so many hidden gems that people miss living their fast paced lifestyle. It’s important to take a step back and enjoy the view.
Prove girls get dirty too:
Getting muddy or messy isn’t always viewed as a girl thing but I’ve loved every second of it. I’m trying to break the stereotype that girls may feel the need to follow. If I had to pick one corny quote to explain my adventures I guess it would be: “I’m a mud and mascara kind of girl.”
Well if you made it through this whole page congrats! You pretty much know the highlights about me. If you like what you’ve seen feel free to follow my adventures on social media.
